Vladislav Bláha is one of the most successful Czech guitarists, as evidenced by concerts in 55 countries. He was the first guitarist from the Czech Republic to play recitals at the Royal Festival Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. He won 4 competitions (Kutná Hora, Markneukirchen, Esztergom, Volos) and a bronze medal in the Radio France Competition in Paris. He graduated from the Brno Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik F. Liszt, Weimar, Germany, and studied with Prof. Gordon Crosskey at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and with John W. Duarte in London. He received his doctorate at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, habilitated as an associate professor at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, where he was appointed a university professor He is a professor at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and the Brno Conservatory, chairman of the Czech Guitar Society and director of the International Guitar Festival Brno. He has released 13 CDs solo and duo and has performed on television and radio in many countries in Europe and overseas.
