History

History

When we met for the first time in August 1992 in modest conditions but with a very friendly and family atmosphere of a small festival and courses of 30 people and 3 soloists and lecturers in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, few would expect that in a few years there will be an international guitar festival, regularly attended by 150-180 guitarists from 15 to 18 countries.

If someone said that there would be such a collection of top guitarists, without much financial support from big sponsors, the initiation and experts of the guitar world at least would not believe it, rather they would think of something about the loss of judgment. The festival grew, more and more people were coming, and the soloists had and had such an interest in the festival that it was something to choose from. Due to the increasing interest of guitarists and accommodation conditions, the festival moved to Brno in 1998, while the leadership, organization and character of the festival remained fully preserved. Today, the festival is considered to be one of the most important guitar festivals in Central Europe by a professional foreign press (eg Classical Guitar – England, Guitart – Italy etc.). He gained his solid background thanks to the support of the city of Brno, which, among other things, lends to the concerts a magnificent historical hall with baroque extensive paintings on the ceiling in the building of the New Town Hall in Brno and the South Moravian Region, and takes part in a very active cooperation with the Brno Cultural Center.
